Macquarie bank of Australia picked Shemara Wikramanayake, hitherto the head of their asset management division, to be the chief executive replacing Nicholas Moore. Wikramanayake is breaking new ground as one of the rare females and particularly from a minority community to lead a major financial institution.

A Macquarie lifer, Wikramanayake led and established corporate advisory offices in New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Malaysia, as well as an infrastructure funds-management business in the US and Canada.
