Given that the financial services industry has a long way to go in gender diversity, promoting women in financial services is a critical consideration. and McKinsey have conducted a survey and based on that have come up with a set of leadership perspectives on promoting women in general and minority women in particular.

The research initiative includes interviews and surveys with 14,000 employees at 39 financial-services companies.

The numbers display a stark picture with survey pointing to less than 19% women making up the top executive ranks at financial services firms.
