Finantrix Atlas peer benchmarks / Public Insurer Peer Benchmark
Public Insurer Peer Benchmark
Compare a US-listed P&C, life or health insurer with its peers: assets, premiums, return on equity and claims, from the financial data filed with the SEC.
Choose an insurer to compare it with the 20 insurers nearest to it in total assets, with the same line of business or across all insurers. You can also enter its CIK.
How the comparison works
The data covers 95 insurers as of December 31, 2025, from SEC, XBRL financial data (frames API) and EDGAR company listings. A peer group is the 20 insurers closest in total assets, measured on a ratio scale, so an institution is compared with others of its own size rather than with an arbitrary band. By default the group is limited to insurers with the same line of business, where there are at least 5: from the industry code the company files under with the SEC. Balance sheet figures are at the fiscal year end and income figures cover the fiscal year, so the ratios between them are consistent.
A percentile says what share of the peer group reports a lower figure. Where a measure has a better direction, it is stated beside it; size and mix measures have none. Figures are as reported to the regulator and are not adjusted.
The full ranking is in US-listed P&C insurers by premiums, part of the Finantrix Atlas. Other benchmarks: Bank Peer Benchmark, Credit Union Peer Benchmark, RIA Peer Benchmark, Private Fund Adviser Peer Benchmark, 13F Manager Peer Benchmark and Public REIT Peer Benchmark.
