What the growth is made of

The figure an adviser reports moves for three reasons: markets, new clients, and acquisitions of other firms. Form ADV records the total and not the reasons, so this page does not call any of it organic. Every firm in the table grew at least 65%, against a median of 17% for all 1,410 firms in the comparison.

  • 22 firms more than doubled, and 106 reported fewer assets than a year earlier.
  • 5 advisers had not filed a new figure since the earlier date and are left out rather than shown as flat.

What this means for technology buyers

A fast-growing advisory firm outgrows its systems first. These guides compare what it needs as it scales:

How this list was built

The universe is every SEC-registered adviser in both the SEC's Form ADV data for September 1, 2026 and its data for September 2, 2025 that had at least $1 billion in regulatory assets at the earlier date and reports at least half of its regulatory assets for individual and high-net-worth clients (Item 5.D). An adviser whose latest filing is the same in both files has not reported a new figure and is left out. Advisers are ranked by the percentage change in regulatory assets under management.

Limits

  • Growth is not organic growth. Markets and acquisitions move the figure as much as new clients; the form does not separate them.
  • Annual figures. Advisers update regulatory assets in their annual amendment, so the two figures for a firm are about a year apart but not exactly the two dates in the heading.
  • One entity per row. A firm that moves clients between its own registered advisers can show growth in one and a fall in another.
  • A size floor. Firms with less than $1 billion on their earlier Form ADV are left out, because a small base can grow faster in percentage terms.
